BRP Field Rules
Before every session, our trained staff and referees will go over equipment usage, function, and safety rules with each participant. If you've never played paintball before, check out our "For Dummies" section at the bottom of this page." Outside of this, there are a few basic rules and principles for our park that everyone should know that are shown below.
Release of Liability Waivers must be signed by each participant before playing at our park. Parent and/or guardians may sign waivers in advance at any time.
Approved eye protection is required at all times when entering the game play areas. Barrel covers are required at all times when not in the game play areas.
The power of a paintball marker is measured in feet per second. All our rental markers are regularly chronographed to 280fps and personal equipment must be set to the same.
No weapons or weapon-like items other than paintball markers or air-powered guns, will be permitted on the property at any time. BRP is also a “field paint only” facility.
Release of Liability Waivers
All members and players must read and complete the appropriate Blue Ridge Paintball Release of Liability Waiver form prior to participating or competing. Waivers are stored in our database and only need to be completed once per year.
How to Play Paintball
For Dummies
Does it hurt to get hit?
If you haven’t played paintball before, the best way to describe the sensation of being hit is the feeling of being snapped with a rubber band. It may be surprising at first, but the feeling usually goes away after about 5-10 seconds. All of our markers are also set to a low FPS, and we also enforce a minimum distance rule.
Does the paint wash out?
Believe it or not, theres no actual “paint” in paintballs, and therefore no risk of staining. All of the ingredients (inside and out) are water soluble and non-toxic. Some of the ingredients include polyethylene glycol, gelatin, sorbitol, glycerol, dye and/or vegetable oil.
What is the objective of the game?
There are many variations of the game of paintball including woodsball and speedball with different objectives. Overall can think of paintball like an intense version of outdoor tag where (in most scenarios) if you get hit, you are eliminated from the game. Your referees will take you thorough an assortment of games with various objectives such as capture-the-flag, domination, etc. and explain each one before you play.
Why do people enjoy paintball?
Because it’s awesome.
